A creative exchange between young actors from BRICS+ countries and Russian actress Anna Ardova was held at the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre in Moscow, offering participants a rare opportunity to learn from one of Russia’s leading theatre figures.

According to TV BRICS, Ardova, a People’s Artist of Russia and actress at the Vladimir Mayakovsky Moscow Academic Theatre, shared insights from her professional journey — from studying at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) to her work as an artistic director and performer. She also introduced participants to the latest trends and practices of the Russian theatrical school.

“We are special people, just like artists and mathematicians. Everyone has their own individual direction,” Ardova told the young actors. “It is important for young people to hear this — that there are doubts and difficulties, but you overcome them. And how do you do it? With humour, work, effort, and perseverance.”

The event brought together actors from Argentina, Brazil, India, China, Cuba, Mauritania, Tunisia, South Africa, and other BRICS+ states. Many described the meeting as an enriching intercultural experience.

Indian theatre actor Abhinav Banerjee said the dialogue was especially valuable:  “When we come and interact with people from Russia, where actors really put their heart and soul into their performances, it really helps to get a sense of the best practices. It’s very enriching for all of us actors to come and hopefully take some of it back.”

Brazilian actor Felipe Rodrigues Carvalho echoed that sentiment, stressing the universality of the craft: “We are all human beings. Each of us is familiar with both suffering and happiness. For me, it is priceless to learn from representatives of another culture. To me it’s completely powerful to have this meeting, no matter how different the culture is.”

The gathering was part of the "InteRussia Fellowship Programme" in theatrical arts, implemented at GITIS in cooperation with the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, the TV BRICS International Media Network, Rossotrudnichestvo, and the non-profit organisation "Mezhdunarodniki". It is supported by the Presidential Grants Foundation under the “New Generation” programme.

The BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre, launched in October 2024 ahead of the 16th BRICS Summit, serves as a platform for international cultural dialogue. It regularly hosts literature presentations, film screenings, creative evenings, and expert discussions, strengthening humanitarian cooperation among BRICS+ countries.
