Younes Shortlisted in SEENews Person of the Year 2019

SEENews is conducting a poll to choose the Person of the Year 2019. This year’s award will go to the most active official spokesperson in Egypt. 

There were dozens of political and social events in 2019 that have affected public atmosphere in Egypt; whether positively or negatively. No body can ignore influence of social media platforms. 

While SEENews staff was choosing the Spokesperson of the Year 2019, a man’s shadow was seen on social media as there were so many persons praising his sincere efforts. 

Many citizens chose Hany Younes to be the Person of the Year 2019. let’s figure out who Younes is.

Hany Younes is the media advisor of the Cabinet. 

Younes was the media spokesman of former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab from March 2014 until September 2015.

After Mahlab resigned his post, Younes returned back to the Housing Ministry where he had been acting as the official spokesperson of the ministry. 

In 2015, Younes was chosen as the best official spokesperson in Egypt. 

When Dr. Mostafa Madbouli assumed his office as Egypt’s premier mid 2018, Younes was reassigned to be the media advisor of the Cabinet. 

Since then, Younes has been communicating intensively with the public and the concerned authorities to be a liaison between the public and the government. 

His Facebook account is being followed by thousands of citizens. His account has become a mirror in which the public is watching the cabinet’s work. 

He has not been chosen as SEENews’s Person of the Year 2019, but his name is on the top of the poll’s shortlist. 

It’s noteworthy that SEENews’s Spokesperson of the Year 2019 Shortlist includes: 

  • Hany Younes, the Cabinet’s Official Spokesperson.
  • Ambassador Bassam Rady, the Official Spokesperson of the Presidency. 
  • Counselor Ahmed Hafez, the Official Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry. 
  • Colonel Tamer El Refaie, the Official Spokesperson of the Armed Forces.
