The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has issued a firm warning against any attempts to disrupt the peace or hinder development in the strategic eastern governorate of Hadramout. In a statement published on Saturday, February 21, 2026, the Council emphasized that it will not permit "chaos" to derail the path of reconstruction and institutional building in the oil-rich province.
According to Youm7, the Council’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and stability as a top national priority. The statement follows a series of high-level administrative changes and security measures aimed at reasserting state authority in Yemen’s liberated territories.
Reasserting State Control
The PLC underscored that the "path of construction" in Hadramout is vital for the country's economic recovery. This position comes on the heels of recent presidential decrees, including the appointment of Dr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi as a member of the Presidential Council while retaining his role as Governor of Hadramout, a move intended to streamline local governance and central leadership.
Security and Stability
"We will not allow the disruption of the development track that the people of Hadramout have worked so hard to establish," the Council stated. The PLC has recently focused on integrating various military and security formations under a unified national command to prevent armed friction and ensure that local resources remain under the control of legitimate state institutions.
As the transitional period continues, the Council called on all local components and political forces in Hadramout to prioritize "wisdom and national unity." The leadership noted that the coming phase requires total cooperation with the "National Shield Forces" (Dir' Al-Watan) and other state-aligned units to secure border crossings and vital oil infrastructure against external and internal threats.
