The Yemeni Ambassador to Belgium, Sahar Ghanem, held a high-level meeting on Tuesday with the Belgian Special Envoy for the Middle East to discuss the latest political and humanitarian developments in Yemen and the broader region.

According to the report by Youm7, the meeting focused on the ongoing international efforts to revive the political process in Yemen. Ambassador Ghanem emphasized the Yemeni government's commitment to a comprehensive and sustainable peace based on the agreed-upon regional and international frameworks.

Addressing the Humanitarian Crisis During the talks, the Ambassador highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, exacerbated by years of conflict. She urged the international community, and specifically the European Union through Belgium, to increase humanitarian aid and support economic recovery initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Belgian Support for Regional Stability The Belgian Envoy reaffirmed Belgium's steadfast support for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The envoy praised the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in pursuing a peaceful resolution and emphasized Belgium's readiness to play a constructive role within the EU framework to facilitate dialogue and de-escalate tensions in the Red Sea region.

The discussions also touched upon the impact of regional conflicts on Yemen’s security, with both sides agreeing on the necessity of international pressure to prevent further escalation and protect global shipping lanes in the Bab al-Mandab strait.
