Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has agreed to pay nearly $10 million to settle a lawsuit filed by US President Donald Trump against the company and its former CEO, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
Last month, Meta Platforms announced it had reached a separate $25 million settlement with Trump over a similar lawsuit.
Trump initially filed lawsuits against Twitter—now rebranded as X—along with Facebook and Alphabet, as well as their then-CEOs, in July 2021.
The lawsuits were a response to the tech giants banning him from their platforms following the January 6 Capitol riots.
Musk, who also leads Tesla, currently heads the Department of Government Efficiency, a newly established division within the White House.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump’s legal team is now expected to pursue a settlement with Google, which banned the former president from YouTube in the aftermath of the 2021 Capitol unrest.
