WYF: PM, Lebanese Counterpart Hold Talks in Sharm El-Sheikh

Egypt's Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly held talks, on Monday, with his Lebanese counterpart Najib Mikati, on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum (WYF), hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, George Kallas, Lebanese Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ali Al Halabi, Lebanese Ambassador to Egypt.

At the outset of the meeting, Madbouly congratulated the Lebanese PM on the new year, wishing that it would bring about a better future for Lebanon and its people.

The PM also underlined the need to continue providing all forms of support to Lebanon. He also welcomed Mikati’s invitation to visit Lebanon, as soon as possible.

Moreover, the meeting touched on files related to strengthening cooperation in the field of gas export, and ways to achieve power linkage between the two countries, in order to supply Lebanon with electricity.

They also tackled facilitating the movement of trade exchange, especially with regard to Lebanese agricultural products, as well as providing Lebanon with food and humanitarian aid.

On his part, Mikati expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Madbouli, and the Egyptian government for the diligent follow-up on issues of cooperation with Lebanon, and the sincere desire and efforts to stand by Lebanon in times of difficulties.
