Early on Wednesday, the first special theme episode of WWE NXT 2.0, New Year's Evil (NYE), took place with a very good match card and impressive scheduled appearances. The show was highly praised by WWE Universe and it drew the highest viewership rates since Halloween in the US.

Unfortunately, the good vibe the NXT received was followed by heartbreaking news of the WWE fourth wave of wide releases for some of the roaster's talents, creatives, staff, and directors. The most trending name among the WWE Releases now is the legendary William Regal who is one of the essential architects of this roaster since its first season, Black and Gold Era, and NXT 2.0 Era. NXT is still building the cornerstones of the new face of the brand, and this work plan of course included the cycle of the championships. Therefore, a strong contest between the North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and the NXT Cruiserweigt Champion Roderick Strong for unifying the titles.

The match was the opening contest of the night, and longest match in the two-hour-show. In general, the match was strong, and progressive.
Both competitors were somehow balanced, so there was a good harmony between them, therefore, the match witnessed various attractive shots, and moves.

Walter & Imperium vs Riddle & MSK
This match was the strongest and the most enjoyable of the night. Both teams carried significant in-ring-style. Imperium who are the current NXT Tag Team champions, and their companion Walter who is one of the strongest names in the NXT currently, and one of the wanted names by the fans to be moved to SmackDown or RAW.

On the other hand, MSK and Riddle are more high-flyers, light-weight, and more acrobatic. So, the contrast in both teams techniques created a real mood of competition.

Riddle showed phenomenal performance and breathtaking progression in the ring which proved that Riddle's teaming up with Randy Orton impacted the character and the style of the young star. And, the harmony between the MSK and Riddle was ultimately high.

The Main Event: Tommaso Ciampa vs. Bron Breakker for NXT Championship
The main event of the NYE was epic, although the match's finale let old NXT fans down because Ciampa lost by submission which is not suitable for such legendary NXT figure.

In general, both icons did great work inside the ring, and introduced a fight that praised by the fans, however, the result of the match was somehow expected as the remains of the Gold and Black era is fading, so the leading of the NXT Champions should be moved to NXT 2.0 icons.

Finally, the show in general was very good, and it succeeded in attracting a wider fan-base from fans who don't follow or watch the NXT.
The addition of AJ Styles and his segment with Waller enhanced the strength of the show and spread more excitement which eased the fans anger with the promotions plans of Styles with Omos.
The Phenomenal is still able to set his impact in anywhere he steps into. His charismatic talents and words got high applause from the fans.
