Today, Saturday, the world is celebrating Earth Hour Day, an annual event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about environmental issues.

This year marks the 20th anniversary and celebration of Earth Hour. The WWF called this year's event as the "Biggest Hour for Earth."

The event calls people worldwide to turn off their lights for 60 minutes from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (by local time) as a symbolic gesture of support for our planet.

To commemorate Earth Hour, a special anthem was released by WWF, composed by Shantanu Moitra and sung by Papon. It hails the beauty of nature, in addition to asserting our responsibility to protect the Earth.

The organizers of Earth Hour posted on their official website, "Since our beginnings in 2007, Earth Hour has been known for the symbolic “lights off” in support of our planet. Over the years, we've stepped things up, breathed new life into our movement and mission to create the Biggest Hour for Earth.

In 2026, we’ll mark our 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of collective action and storytelling from communities around the world."
