The frequency of warnings issued by senior officials of the international organizations has increased about the dispersal of unrest in poor countries due to the repercussions of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The World Bank warned that the Russian invasion of Ukraine increases the risks of social unrest and crises in the poorest countries in the Middle East and North Africa, due to the high food and energy prices caused by the war.
In the latest update of its growth forecasts for the region, a World Bank report said that "inflationary pressures" caused by the (COVID-19) pandemic are likely to be exacerbated by Russia's war against its neighbor.
The World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Ferid Belhaj, explained in the report that the threat of (COVID-19) mutants still exist, but the war in Ukraine has doubled the risks, especially for the poor.
