Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat received the “Champions of Change” Award during a joint ceremony organized by the Embassies of Mexico, Canada, and Sweden on Thursday, March 18, as part of the International Women’s Day and the Egyptian Women’s Day.

The celebration took place at the Mexican Ambassador’s residence to honor Egyptian women who are pioneers of change in various fields.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Mexican Ambassador to Cairo, José Octavio Tripp; the Canadian Ambassador to Cairo, Louis Duman; and the Chargé d’affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Cairo, Dr. Per-Axel Frielingsdorf.

After receiving the award, Al-Mashat shared that it is a pleasure to be honored among many of the women who are excelling, and who are “pioneers of change” in Egypt. She also referred to the vital role that women play in the country's development. This includes the challenging, but great responsibility of raising new generations while carrying out their jobs across various sectors of the state.

The Minister also stressed the importance of international partnerships to support Egypt’s efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 5: Gender Equality. Through effective development cooperation alongside multilateral and bilateral development partners, including Mexico, Canada and Sweden, Egypt can achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
