A woman was shot in the neck on Wednesday, suffering major wounds inside the Congress' Capitol building, reports say.
A member of Congress Dan Kildee said that the police in the US House of Representatives drew their weapons against supporters of Donald Trump as they tried to storm the scene.
"Their weapons were pulled from the room security and the Capitol Police, as the demonstrators banged on the front door of the room," Kildee wrote on Twitter from inside the hall.
"We have been instructed to lie on the ground and wear our gas masks," he added.

On Wednesday, supporters of Donald Trump stormed a congressional session held to endorse Joe Biden's victory, as a last-minute desperate attempt by president Donald Trump to reverse his election loss led to chaos and accusations of an attempted "coup."
Officials at the U.S. Capitol building announced the closure, and lawmakers said on Twitter that they were sheltering in their offices, as protesters - some of them carrying Trump flags - were seen walking through the building.
