Security personnel in the United States opened fire on a woman outside the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Langley, Virginia, early Thursday morning, according to local reports.

A source familiar with the matter told CNBC News that the incident occurred when the woman approached the CIA's main gate in a vehicle and refused to stop, prompting security officers to fire at the upper section of the car.

The woman was injured and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Authorities confirmed she survived the shooting.

While a CIA spokesperson acknowledged a security incident outside the agency’s main entrance, they did not confirm that shots had been fired. The main gate was temporarily closed, and staff were advised to use alternative routes.

According to reports from Sky News Arabia, the woman attempted to breach security at the CIA compound. Her failure to stop at the gate led officers to open fire as a precautionary measure.

The shooting comes less than 24 hours after two Israeli embassy staff were fatally shot by an armed assailant in downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening. Authorities have stated that there is no indication the two incidents are connected.
