A rich and dramatic meal we watched during the holy month of Ramadan.. What caught my eyes most was that it was a meal related to the challenges of women in the male-dominated society, such as “Jaafar Al-Omda”, “Sitohom”, “Taht El Wesaya”, “Omla Nadra”, "Al Harsha Al saba'a" " Sero Sl Batea", and Wo'od Sakhina"... These  soap operas embodied how women live in a male-dominated society, that controlled by inherited traditions, and the challenges of being a weak woman.

Jaafar El-Omda series was one of the series that attracted people for many factors, the most important of which is that Mohamed Ramadan combined physical strength with the strength of feelings that attracted public sympathy after the loss of his son, so he touched the hearts of people.

Hala Sidqi had the best dramatic performance.. She gave the series a special flavor with a very distinguished performance mixing between drama and comedy.

There are three women who embody the challenges of women: Mona Zaki, who dazzled us in “Taht El Wesaya.” The series revolves around a young woman whose husband died and left her a boat and two children. She is besieged by the greed of the husband's family, and the end of the series represented in the society objection against a woman didn't surprise me as she broke the norms so she got imprisoned leaving her children for whom she struggled for.

Nelly Karim, in “Omla Nadra,” the struggling girl who is responsible for her brother and sister after the death of their father, she works in an “clothes” factory in one of the popular areas so that she can raise up them!

Hanan Mutawe'a in "Sero El Batea" against the foreign occupier, gave a mature performance. She also excelled in "Wo'od Sakhina" in the role of a woman who was wronged by society, so she decided to take revenge!

I have noticed that the woman is That El Wesaya, Sero El Batea, and Omla Nadra had a social cause. She did not go through a romantic love story that depended on her beauty, but relied on the legitimacy of her cause, so she achieved great success. The question here " will these series succeed in changing the reality of women who are victims of the social heritage, with new laws or amending the current laws ?

This year's soap operas formed a dramatic meal in the interest of Egypt's soft power to return to the top again.

We watched strong competition and a great diversity between the national, the comic, the historical, and the social drama. All my appreciation to the big stars and the many young talents that have proven their presence strongly!
