A severe winter storm sweeping across vast regions of the United States has led to the cancellation of over 1,300 flights on Monday, as snow, ice, and freezing temperatures disrupt travel plans nationwide.
According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, a total of 1,306 flights were canceled by 10:13 AM GMT, with an additional 414 flights delayed.
Among the affected airlines, Southwest Airlines had the highest number of cancellations at 264 flights, followed by American Airlines with 176 cancellations.
Major carriers, including Southwest, American, United, and Delta, have issued travel advisories warning passengers of potential delays and cancellations due to the storm’s impact.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also issued warnings on Friday, stating that the storm’s strong winds, heavy snowfall, and icy conditions could disrupt air travel across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
