Winter will start in Egypt on December 21, according to astronomical studies by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).

NRIAG highlighted that the winter solstice will take place at 23:48 pm on December 21, declaring the beginning of the season, and it will last for 88 days.

In addition, it will end on March 20 at 23:26 pm.

The winter solstice is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight in the whole year, making it the “shortest day” of the year.

Shortly, the days begin to grow longer until the summer solstice which is the longest day of the year.

The winter solstice occurs once a year in each hemisphere: once in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere.
