In a vibrant festive atmosphere, the Russian House in Cairo hosted the annual Maslenitsa festival, celebrating the farewell to winter and the welcoming of spring. The event brought together members of the Russian community in Egypt, alongside Egyptian guests from Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, and Dabaa, reflecting the deep cultural ties between the two nations.

Maslenitsa, one of Russia’s most cherished folk traditions, carried a warm family spirit this year. The program featured a traditional handicrafts exhibition showcasing diverse examples of Russian folk art, highlighting the richness and authenticity of Russian heritage.
The celebration also included games and interactive family activities designed for all age groups, creating an atmosphere of joy and human connection that strengthened cultural exchange between attendees.

A central highlight of the festival was the traditional Russian pancakes known as “blini,” a symbolic element of Maslenitsa representing the sun and the arrival of spring. Guests enjoyed tasting blini with a variety of fillings, offering them an authentic culinary experience tied to the occasion’s traditions.

The event concluded with a lively artistic performance featuring singing and folkloric dance groups, as well as a choir performance that captivated the audience. The day ended on a festive note, blending cultural expression with community spirit.
The celebration was organized by the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Egypt, with the support of the Russian Embassy in Cairo and in cooperation with the Russian House.
