The Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised on Sunday the efforts of the Egyptian administration, headed by President Abdel Fattah Sisi, in the field of health through its "100 Million Healthy Lives" campaign.
Ghebreyesus said in his speech at the first Africa Health ExCon that Egypt did massive achievements in solving several health issues such as Hepatitis C.
The WHO director added that there are three million cases infected with Hepatitis B, and C, while the rates of death regarding those diseases could reach one million. Therefore, decreasing the rates of infection in Africa by 90% is a must.
The WHO official asserted that the organization is looking forward to decreasing the rates of liver diseases and cancers, continuing, that the majority of the African countries have deep issues in reaching the required treatments, therefore, the organization is working on different strategies to combat HIV, AIDS, and different kinds of Hepatitis.
On Sunday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended the opening of the Africa Health ExCon. It is the first medical conference.
Africa Health ExCon kicked off today and will last to June, 7 at the Al Manara International Conference Center. The conference is witnessing great international participation in the conference and exhibition activities.
Africa Health ExCon provides an educational opportunity through scientific lecture sessions, training sessions and workshops, addressing the most common topics in this sector.
A large number of experts in the medical field are participating in the conference activities. The conference is being held under the slogan “Your Gate to Innovation and Trade.”
2,000 delegates representing government health bodies from Africa and the Middle East will be attending the three-day conference organised by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA).
