The director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Europe office Hans Klug expressed his concern regarding more infectious COVID-19 variants outbreak in Europe.

He also referred to the unstoppable spread of the Indian and British variants of the novel Coronavirus.

"We know for example that the B.1617 (Indian variant) is more transmissible than the B.117 (British variant), which already was more transmissible than the previous strain," the WHO Europe director told AFP in an interview.

Last week, the organization announced that all approved COVID-19 vaccines by the organization are effective against mutated variants of the virus.

Kluge highlighted: “All COVID-19 virus variants that have emerged so far do respond to the available, approved vaccines.”
