The World Health Organization (WHO) said that it is working with Egypt in planning the medical evacuation of patients and wounded from the Gaza Strip to receive treatment and that it will continue to support its efforts in this field.

This came in a blog post published by Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the Organization, yesterday, Wednesday, on the “X” website (formerly Twitter), in which he welcomed Egypt’s decision to allow some sick and injured people to cross the Rafah crossing with the Gaza Strip to receive treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

He continued: "But this should not divert our attention from providing the greatest needs to save thousands of patients inside the Gaza Strip, especially those whose condition may not allow them to move from one place to another."

Adhanom said: "We need to have an immediate and rapid transfer of life-saving medical aid to the people of Gaza while ensuring that the necessary protection is provided to hospitals."

Earlier yesterday, an informed source in North Sinai revealed in statements to “Sputnik” that a new batch of wounded and injured Palestinians had entered as well, as they were transferred to Al-Arish General Hospital and Bir Al-Abd Hospital.
