Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus addressed the ongoing health crisis in Sudan during a video call at the "Issues Now" conference in Cairo on Saturday.

He emphasized that around 3 million Sudanese people are at risk of contracting cholera.

Director-General Ghebreyesus described the health crisis in Sudan as dire, with numerous healthcare facilities overwhelmed by patients and the spread of epidemics.

He emphasized the severe threat of cholera, affecting around 3 million individuals. Additionally, many children are suffering from the disease, and famine has escalated in Sudan, with approximately 20 million Sudanese people facing the risk of starvation.

Ghebreyesus stated that the World Health Organization is making efforts to provide necessary treatments, implement measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases, and deliver medical support to 6.

The organization remains committed to assisting the Sudanese people during this challenging time.

On another note, Hala Al-Qurb, the Regi5onal Director of the African Century Association for Women, highlighted the lingering remnants of the Bashir regime, which played a significant role in destabilizing Darfur before the emergence of the Rapid Support Forces.

She noted that the Sudanese people are striving for stability.

Al-Qurb pointed out that at the beginning of the current year, the Rapid Support Forces began exerting control over Sudan and engaged in acts of sabotage and sexual violence against innocent civilians.

Accessing humanitarian aid under these circumstances in Sudan is perilous due to the current administration's failure to fulfill its commitments to the Sudanese people.
