The World Health Organization (WHO) said it needs $1 billion to confront some of the world’s most severe health crises in 2026.
In a statement, the WHO warned that millions of people remain at risk due to ongoing health emergencies, including disease outbreaks, humanitarian crises, and fragile healthcare systems in conflict-affected regions.
The organization stressed that the funding is essential to support emergency responses, strengthen healthcare infrastructure, and ensure access to life-saving services for vulnerable populations worldwide.
WHO officials noted that without sufficient financial support, the global community could face worsening health conditions and delayed responses to future emergencies, calling on international donors to step up contributions to prevent further humanitarian suffering.
