The White House announced that the United States will continue to seize vessels sailing from Venezuela without obtaining prior permission from Washington.
During a press briefing on Monday, White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters that President Donald Trump "has made it clear that oil tankers with U.S. approval will leave Venezuela."
"We will continue to seize stateless vessels or those that have not received authorization for trade,"she added.
It is worth noting that the United States had detained several oil tankers off the Venezuelan coast earlier this month.
Washington accuses these vessels of violating the sanctions regime imposed by the U.S. administration on the Venezuelan energy sector.
