White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said on Monday that the United States is closely following the "unacceptable" kidnapping of four Americans in Mexico.
"We are with the families of these individuals and ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance, and US law enforcement authorities are in contact with Mexican law enforcement authorities," White House spokeswoman told reporters.
The US embassy had said that, shortly after they crossed into Mexico, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the US citizens who were riding the vehicle. The gunmen took the four American citizens to another vehicle and fled the scene with them
