White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett stated Monday that the United States and the European Union have made “tremendous progress” in ongoing negotiations over trade tariffs, particularly those imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Speaking in a televised interview, Hassett, who serves as Director of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, revealed that U.S. and EU negotiators have held several rounds of talks in recent weeks, including during the current visit of EU representatives to Washington.
“There have been many discussions with the European Union. We are making tremendous progress,” Hassett said. “This will be extremely beneficial for American workers, especially in the automotive sector.”
The talks come amid efforts to resolve lingering trade tensions stemming from tariffs introduced during the Trump’s second administration, which affected a wide range of goods, including cars and steel.
