The White House has announced that US President Donald Trump will participate in the G7 summit, scheduled to be held from June 15 to 17 in the French Alpine town of Évian-les-Bains.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the White House explained that Trump intends to use the discussions to reshape development talks, shifting the focus toward investment partnerships that mutually benefit both investors and recipient countries, according to a report by the Associated Press.
The US President will also seek to focus on fostering global innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) development, enhancing the efficiency and resilience of critical mineral supply chains, and strengthening international measures against drug trafficking, in addition to tightening immigration policies.
The White House further noted that Trump will utilize the summit to promote "US energy exports."
Additionally, the discussions will address the war with Iran and the issue of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a matter on which Trump previously stated that US allies had not done enough to assist in opening the strait.
