The White House announced that US President Donald Trump hopes Iran will accept Washington's proposal for the nuclear deal, otherwise there will be "serious consequences" for Tehran.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said during a press conference on Tuesday that "Special Envoy Witkoff has sent a detailed proposal to the Iranian regime. The president hopes they will accept it."
She added, "If this does not happen, there will be serious consequences."
The United States and Iran have held five rounds of indirect negotiations to reach a new agreement on Iran's nuclear program.
The Iranian side has so far rejected restrictions on uranium enrichment, considering enrichment a "legitimate right" of the Islamic Republic.
