The White House on Saturday unleashed on Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's leading infectious disease expert, after he criticized the Trump administration's response to the pandemic.

Fauci, the chief infectious disease expert in the United States, issued a severe warning about the country's preparedness for the Coronavirus pandemic, warning of difficult times ahead.

Fauci said in an interview with the "Washington Post", that we are exposed to a lot of harm and the situation is not promising.

Fauci added, "It is unfortunate that we are entering the fall and winter seasons, and people are gathering in closed places. We may not be in a worse situation."

Last Friday, the United States set a new record, with about 98,000 cases in one day. The number of deaths and patients being treated in hospitals also increased again.

Trump underestimated the importance of Fauci's statements, accusing doctors of falsely including deaths from cancer and heart diseases as Covid-19 deaths, to achieve more money.

His Democratic opponent in the election, Joe Biden, sharply condemned the president's comments, praising health care workers.

Alyssa Farah, the White House spokeswoman, rejected Fauci's criticism and indicated that he should be more careful in his public statements about how the country is dealing with the pandemic.

She pointed to Scott Atlas, another Trump adviser about the Coronavirus, as he wants to quickly reopen the country. Atlas is a doctor, but he is not an expert in infectious diseases, and it appears that he was included in the administration because his views go along with Trump's views.
