The White House informed Congress on Friday that the war with Iran has officially “ended.” The announcement, reported by the Associated Press, effectively bypasses the legal May 1 deadline for congressional approval to continue military action against Tehran.
Republican lawmakers had previously indicated they would defer the decision to the President.
In its message, the White House stated that Iran no longer poses the threat it once did. Officials noted that the country’s nuclear ambitions have been curtailed and its economy is severely weakened.
The statement also cited the success of “Operation Epic Fury,” describing it as achieving all military objectives in less than six weeks. According to the White House, targeted strikes, strict sanctions, and intelligence operations enabled President Donald Trump to neutralize Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The announcement marks a dramatic turning point in U.S.-Iran relations and signals the end of active hostilities in the region, though the broader geopolitical implications remain under close international scrutiny.
