US First Lady Melania Trump has introduced the 2025 White House holiday theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” marking her first official Christmas theme since returning to the role.
The seasonal décor this year pays homage to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States.

A major shift from tradition is the placement and purpose of the main Christmas tree: the Blue Room tree now serves as a tribute to Gold Star families who have lost loved ones in military service.

In past years, the primary tree greeted guests in the East Wing, but that structure, along with its colonnade, was demolished in October as part of President Donald Trump’s plan to build an expansive new ballroom.

In a post on X, the first lady wrote, “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we carry within us and share it with those around us. Wherever we may be, we can always create a home filled with endless possibilities.”
Public tours, paused during the construction of the ballroom, will resume on Tuesday with a revised path limited to the State Floor. Visitors will have access to the East Room, the Green, Blue, and Red Rooms, the State Dining Room, Cross Hall and the Grand Foyer.

“The 2025 decorations remind us that the true strength of our nation lies in its people—our shared values, our traditions, and our unwavering belief that home is where the heart is,” the first lady said in a statement.
The White House expects tens of thousands of guests throughout December for tours, receptions, and holiday celebrations.
