White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Wednesday that US President Joe Biden will not apologize for US's use of atomic bomb on Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, during his visit to attend the G7 summit.

'The President won't be making a statement at the Peace Memorial Park,' Sullivan told reporters.

'He'll be participating with the other G7 leaders in a wreath-laying and a few other events. But this is not, from his perspective, a bilateral moment. This is him, as one of the G7 leaders, coming to pay respects," he added.

It is worth noting that on August 6, 1945, American planes bombed the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and three days later they bombed the city of Nagasaki, with nuclear bombs.

As a result of both attacks, about 300,000 people were injured (between dead and missing), and about 200,000 people were exposed to nuclear radiation.

The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the only examples in human history of the combat use of nuclear weapons.
