President El-Sisi said that the state has taken measures to counter the impact of the negative reprecutions of exchange rate of the dollar on the citizen, explaining that the state operates at a flexible exchange rate, but in the case of the life and security of the Egyptian citizen, intervention must be made.
This came during his speech at the National Youth Conference in Burg Al Arab on Wednesday.
He added, "We enjoy flexibile exchange rate, but when it affects the lives of Egyptians and may waste them. We do not sit still."
He stressed that the Egyptian state will not take a step in liberalising the currency except by working to reduce the dollar gap, which must be worked on during the coming period.
