WhatsApp continuously improves user experience by introducing new features at a higher rate.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new feature that will enhance the overall file-sharing experience by allowing users to share files with nearby people without needing an internet connection.
This feature, currently available in beta testing for both Android and iOS users, will enable users to easily share documents, photos, videos, and other files with nearby devices.
Although the Android version of this update has not yet been rolled out, the iOS version has started testing this feature.
The new feature will be named "Nearby Share." A screenshot indicates that WhatsApp is considering adding this functionality to its iOS app, which will allow users to share files with nearby individuals, similar to Apple’s AirDrop. This update is planned for a future release of the app.
How Does It Work?
The file-sharing feature on WhatsApp for iOS uses a unique method, requiring users to scan a QR code to share files, in contrast to the Android version, which uses nearby device detection technology to enable file transfers.
