WhatsApp has officially launched its first dedicated app for the Apple Watch, a development marking one of the platform’s most notable updates this year.
The new version allows users to read and reply to messages directly from their wrists, eliminating the need to pull out their iPhones.
For years, Apple Watch owners relied on brief notifications or third-party apps to access their WhatsApp chats. Now, Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, is offering a native experience designed for seamless communication on the go.
The Apple Watch app brings a suite of new features
Call and notification display: See who’s calling without touching your phone.
Full message reading: Even long messages are fully viewable on the watch screen.
Direct text replies: Send messages straight from your wrist without using your iPhone.
Voice notes: Record and send voice messages with a single tap.
Quick emoji reactions: Respond instantly using WhatsApp’s signature Reactions.
Improved visuals: Photos and stickers now appear sharper and more vibrant.
Chat history view: Scroll through more of your conversation right on the watch.
Meta confirmed that all messages and calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption, maintaining WhatsApp’s established privacy standards.
The new app is available for Apple Watch Series 4 and later, WatchOS 10 or higher.
It activates automatically once the WhatsApp app on the paired iPhone is updated to the latest version.
