WhatsApp, the popular messaging app owned by Meta, continues to enhance its tools to simplify user experience and reduce the strain on phone storage.
The platform is currently introducing a new feature for iOS users that allows them to manage large files and media directly from within each chat’s information page.
According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, this new addition is an upgraded version of the existing Storage Management tool found in the app’s settings. However, it is now more accessible and faster to use, eliminating the need to navigate through general settings.
With the new feature, users can review all sent and received files, including photos, videos, and documents, in one organized grid that sorts items by file size. The layout allows users to filter media by newest, oldest, or largest, making it easier to identify which files take up the most storage space.
WhatsApp has also added an option to select multiple files for bulk deletion, saving both time and effort. In addition, users can mark their favorite media with a star, making it easier to locate them later within the same chat.
Previously, accessing the Storage Management tool required navigating through the app’s general settings, a step many users often overlooked. This often led to a buildup of unnecessary media files over time, consuming significant device storage.
With this latest update, users can now monitor and control the media size of each individual chat directly where they spend most of their time, inside the conversation itself. This improvement offers a more intuitive way to manage phone storage and keep devices running efficiently.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently available in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and is expected to roll out gradually to all users once testing is complete.
