German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that his country will provide an additional 10 million euros to ensure the security of grain supplies from Ukraine, in coordination with the World Food Programme, according to "Russia Today".

"Hunger should never be used as a weapon," Scholz said in a televised speech.

"That is why we cannot accept what we are going through now, which is the worst global food crisis in recent years, with disastrous consequences for millions of people, from Afghanistan to Madagascar, from the Sahel to the Horn of Africa," he added.

At the same time, he indicated that Germany welcomes the successful international efforts to extend the grain deal across the Black Sea.
