Egypt has presented a new proposition for a truce between Israel and Hamas. The proposal suggests releasing some Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a three-week cease-fire, in an attempt to prevent an Israeli military attack in the southern Gazan city of Rafah.

According to Reuters, the Palestinian delegation is set to discuss the new ceasefire offer with Hamas mediators, as well as Israel's response. A senior Hamas official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that a Hamas delegation led by Khalil Al-Hayya will be arriving in Egypt the following day to deliver the movement's response to the Israeli proposal during a meeting with Egyptian officials, as reported by AFP.

Mediators have been working intensively over the past few hours to finalize a ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian factions and Israel, with Israel threatening to raid the Palestinian border city of Rafah.

Al-Qahera News also reported that on Friday, an Egyptian security delegation discussed an Egyptian proposal for a comprehensive framework for the long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza during a meeting in Tel Aviv.

According to an Egyptian source, the discussions made "noticeable progress in bringing the views of the Egyptian and Israeli delegations closer together on a truce in the Gaza Strip."

No official details have been released from Egypt, Qatar, or the US regarding the new ceasefire proposal.

Israeli media reports suggest that Egypt has proposed releasing 33 Israeli captives, including women, the elderly, and the sick, in exchange for a three-week ceasefire and a resumption of the deadlocked negotiations.
