The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that Lebanon is facing a severe food security crisis, driven by ongoing conflict that has disrupted the country’s supply chains and access to essential goods.
Speaking from Beirut via video link, WFP Lebanon Director Alison O’Hanlon said the situation is rapidly deteriorating beyond a displacement crisis into a broader food emergency.
She highlighted that rising demand among displaced families, combined with persistent inflation, is making basic food increasingly unaffordable.
The agency warned that continued supply disruptions and soaring food prices are placing growing pressure on vulnerable communities, raising concerns over access to adequate nutrition.
The alert underscores the deepening humanitarian challenges in Lebanon, as economic strain and conflict-related disruptions threaten to escalate food insecurity across the country.
