The World Food Programme (WFP) has called for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, warning that ongoing hostilities are severely hindering humanitarian operations in the besieged enclave.
The UN agency emphasized that a ceasefire is essential to create the conditions necessary for delivering safe and large-scale humanitarian assistance to civilians trapped in Gaza.
The WFP also said it stands ready to significantly expand life-saving aid and deliver it directly to the most vulnerable families in the territory.
In a post on its official account on the social media platform X, the WFP appealed for the entry of at least 100 aid trucks per day into Gaza. The organization also stressed the urgent need to open additional routes to safely reach people across northern, central, and southern parts of the Strip.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated sharply amid months of conflict, with aid agencies warning of acute shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
