Tamila Tasheva, the representative of the Ukrainian president for Crimea, said that many Western politicians have warned Ukraine about its plans to liberate Crimea, saying that it could lead to a "nuclear war".
Tasheva stated, in a press interview, that some "politicians, not countries, for fear of Russian retaliation, are calling on Kyiv to abandon plans to restore the peninsula," which Russia annexed in 2014.
She added: "They say that Crimea can indeed be restored, but the potential consequences will be enormous both for the population of the peninsula and for Ukraine as a whole.
The Western Politicians believe that Ukraine must completely abandon attempts to recover it."
"I do not think that Russia will use tactical nuclear weapons, because Putin understands that this is the point of no return for him and that it will entail the destruction of the entire system that he was building in the occupied territories," Tasheva said.
