Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta said on Friday that he hope that Argentinian legend and captain Lionel Messi conclude his brilliant football career in Barcelona.
The former Barcelona captain left the Camp Nou in 2021 after spending 20 years with the Spanish club because of the club's financial issues, which hindered the club from registering several players.
In statements to Spanish newspaper "Sport" he said that Messi's journey with Barcelona has not ended yet, noting that his departure was temporary and "we are able to persuade him to retire with Barcelona."
He also added that he would like to see Messi retiring with Barcelona kit in front of all fans, who will "applaud at all grounds where he goes."
It is worth mentioning that Messi, 35, made 776 caps with the Blaugrana in all competitions, scoring 672 goals as the club's all-time top scorer.
