Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, affirmed that Egypt recovered thousands of artifacts in 2022, praising the cooperation with the American side in restoring the Egyptian antiquities smuggled abroad, stressing that Egypt is working with all countries of the world to recover the antiquities that were sumuggled illegally.

Noteworthy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said today, Monday, that the recovery of the Green coffin from the United States of America took place after a diplomatic effort for several years, praising the successes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to recover part of Egypt's heritage as a result of cooperation with the United States to recover smuggled antiquities.

During a joint press conference with Dr. Ahmed Eissa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, in the presence of the Chargé d'Affairs of the US Embassy in Cairo, Shoukry noted that the Egyptian state is committed to recovering its antiquities, which were illegally sumggled abroad.

He added that these smuggled artifacts represent an authentic part of Egypt's invaluable cultural heritage.
