Japanese state television announced on Friday that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died after he was shot by a gunman while delivering a speech in the city of Nara.
Former Prime Minister Abe, 67, was shot this morning by a gunman during his speech at a gathering in the city of Nara. He was immediately taken to the hospital in a critical condition.
The suspect used a weapon looks like a custom sawed-off shotgun.
Abe, the longest-serving minister in post-war Japan’s history, resigned in September 2020.
Abe is a prominent political figure who has made an invaluable contribution to the development of Egyptian-Japanese relations.
