Life began to return to Mecca on Saturday after the removal of COVID precautionary measures, including barriers and social distancing signs.
The suspension of social distancing also take effect from Sunday October 17, 2021 for Prophet Mosque in Medina, said the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.
Authorities added that the two mosques will now begin to take full capacity before the coronavirus pandemic.
This comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs ordered the opening of all mosques, as well as relaxing some security measures within the country.
The relaxations comes as response to sharp drop in daily coronavirus cases and considerable development in vaccinations, suspending restrictions on fully vaccinated people, closed venues, gatherings, transportation, restaurants and cinemas.
Masks are no longer required for public outdoor places but still in place for closed venues, the authorities pointed out. Worshipers can now perform prayers without hindrance for places of Tawaf, Safa and Marwa.
Saudi officials said that people are required to complete a double dose of vaccination to enter the mosques of Mecca and Medina.
Authorities suspended Umrah for March last year and reduced the number of pilgrims since the outbreak of the virus.
