Wassif: Opera Aida "Luxor" to Revive Tourism in Egypt [Video]

Opera Aida Project Manager Neven Wassif said in a press conference on Tuesday that the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in Luxor will host the grand event on October 26-28.

Wassif added that Chief Conductor of Graz Opera Oksana Lyniv will lead around 80 musicians from the Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra, who are distinguished by excellent communication with the audience, to perform the operetta.

In addition, up to 70 musicians from the National Choir of Ukraine "Dumka" will take part in the show amidst a professional atmosphere created by the vision of the German theater director Michael Sturm with a special technique in the use of elements of fascination and dazzling.

She noted that the sky of Luxor will witness the participation of international stars in the field of operatic performance, including the Belgian star Mickael Spadaccini with experience in the role of the Egyptian Commander "Radames", the Korean star Sae-Kyung Rim as the Ethiopian Princess "Aida", as well as Czech star Eliska Weissova in the role of "Amneris", and Greek artist Aris Argiris in the role of the Ethiopian king "Amonassro".

"A three-dimensional lighting technology will be used on the Temple of Hatshepsut to give the audience the best possible scenery," she noted.

"The purpose behind choosing the Temple of Hatshepsut is sending a message to the world that Egypt is safe and to revive tourism," she stressed, adding that opera Aida performances early next winter seeks to attract more than 4,000 tourists from around, putting the event on the international tourism agenda annually and steadily.

Wassif said that more than 37 tourism companies will participate in the event, including 33 hotels and other tourist establishments, which will contribute to achieve a great economic return for the country.

The event has promoted tourism in a way that all the hotels in Luxor are fully booked during the event, and the price of the room has risen by more than five times.
