Ukrainian Prime Minister (PM) Denys Shmyhal and US Deputy Energy Secretary David Turk discussed energy challenges caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.

"I discussed energy challenges with the US Deputy Secretary of Energy and told our partners that we succeeded in synchronizing the Ukrainian energy system with the European network of European transmission system operators for electricity, despite the war," Shmyhal posted on Telegram.

"We have already started exporting the first 200 megawatts, and we will continue to work with the European Union to increase electricity exports,” he added.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister also informed the US Deputy Secretary of Energy of the threat posed by Russian forces to Ukrainian nuclear power plants, and thus to the world.

In this context, the two sides discussed the possibility of increasing the supply of US nuclear fuel and imposing a ban on Russian nuclear fuel, oil, and gas. In this regard, Shmihal thanked the United States for its decisive stance on this issue.

It is worth mentioning that, the Ukrainian government delegation headed by the Prime Minister is visiting Washington and holding meetings with representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, other organizations, and US government agencies.
