US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine would lead to war between the United States of America (USA) and Russia.

Austin said in statements    to "NBC",  that President Biden has made it clear that US forces will not fight Russia in Ukraine, and securing the no-fly zone, if established, will require confronting Russian aircraft."

Austin also considered the statements about the use of nuclear weapons dangerous, stressing that "this must be avoided by any means. This provides room for major mistakes. We do not want to see that."

The US minister affirmed that     Washington "is able to protect itself and its partners, according to Russia Today."

He pointed out that Russia has "great combat capabilities and it has several options.

Austin indicated that one accessible to    Vladimir Putin may achieve is the option of de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. We hope that he will choose it."

It is noteworthy that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on Western countries to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, against the backdrop of the Russian military operation launched on February 24.
