Washington Hails 4 Arab Countries’ Role in Afghanistan Crisis

On Friday, Washington hailed Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait's effective role in Afghanistan's mounting crisis. 

The Biden administration expressed deep gratitude to the four Arab countries for helping to evacuate thousands of people from Kabul after the U.S. withdrawal.

Qatar

On Friday, a prominent Democratic senator praised Qatar; for hosting Afghan citizens en route to the United States.

“I am grateful to see our friends and allies in Qatar be moral exemplars by accepting Afghans seeking ultimately safe haven in the U.S. after being forced to escape for their lives,” said Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey in a statement.

Bahrain

In a tweet, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken said they are grateful to the Government of Bahrain for the support to safely transit U.S. citizens and Embassy Kabul personnel from Afghanistan through the Arab country.

"We deeply appreciate the support and value our strong and enduring partnership," he added in the tweet.

UAE

"We are very grateful to the United Arab Emirates for the support to transit U.S. citizens, embassy personnel, and foreign nationals from Afghanistan through the UAE," Blinken wrote on Twitter, affirming that they appreciate the strong partnership.

Kuwait

Blinken spoke with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah.  In the phone conversation, the Secretary expressed gratitude to the Government of Kuwait for helping to facilitate the transit of American citizens and Embassy Kabul personnel.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of our enduring bilateral partnership.
