Health sources said that Egypt witnessed a new rise in the reported COVID-19 daily infections through the past few days which may lead to the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic in the state.

The source highlighted that this rise is a slight one by 25%, but, it should be taken seriously as this continued rise may contribute to the beginning of the fourth wave before its expected dates.

He added that the fourth wave of Coronavirus in Egypt is expected to begin at the end of September or the beginning of October.

Therefore, the source asserted that vaccines are significantly important to restrict the outbreak of the virus' mutations. In addition, if the vaccinated person contracted the virus, he/she will suffer from mild symptoms.

On Monday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 107 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 285, 465 .

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16, 625 nationwide after the ministry announced 6 deaths.

About 136 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully recovered cases to 234, 250.

Egypt plans to vaccinate 40 million citizens by the end of the year, representing around 40% of the population.
