Former Al Ahly's defender Wael Gomaa said on Saturday that Pitso Mosimane, the Red Devils' new head coach, needs a chance to prove himself to the fans.

"Judgment on Misomane should not be hasty, as the South African manager needs a chance," Gomaa said in Statements to Bein Sports channel.

He also confirmed that Al Ahly provided all facilities for former coach Rene Weiler to stay at the club.

"The problem with European managers when they come to the Arab region is permanent instability," Gomaa noted.

"Al Ahly are one of the attractive clubs for African managers because of their great history and popularity. Misomane is a smart manager, and all things are in his favor," the 45-year-old star added.

"For Al Ahly's fans, claiming the CAF Champions League is a main priority. There were many managers, led the Red Devils, and achieved the Egyptian League title, but they failed to lift the Champions League trophy," Egypt's former defender explained.

"Misomane has a great experience in Africa as he worked with Mamelodi Sundowns for Eight years. I see that his great career will help him in Al Ahly," Gomaa concluded.

Mosimane has been named as Al Ahly's new head coach on Thursday to succeed former Manager Rene Weiler, who left the team after claiming the Egyptian Premier League title.
