Despite his severe illness, a 69-year- old voter, named Mahmoud Sayed Ahmed, was keen to participate in the 2020 Parliament elections in Giza Governorate on Sunday.
The elderly man came to the headquarters of his polling station at Ahmed Shawky Primary School in Giza Governorate, leaning on a stick in his left hand and his daughter and granddaughter in his company.
"I am here to elect a person who will represent me in the parliament and achieve people's requests and comfort,” he told Sada El Balad on Sunday.
Ahmed added that "I would like to tell young people not to waste this opportunity. Your vote is very important and valuable for the sake of this country.”
“Our voices must be heard.”
Moreover, he sent a message to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, saying: "I’m proud that you are one of the sons of Egypt. Egypt's industry is strong and great thanks to your efforts.”
1879 candidates are competing in the first stage in 143 electoral constituencies in 14 governorates in the inpidual system, which are Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, Matrouh.
